Student Terms of Service
As a member of an institution participating in NextStep, You are granted full and unlimited use of all aspects of The Program. We encourage You to explore, use and comment on what is available to You. Below We have laid out the terms of use that shall govern all members of the NextStep community, such to provide a positive and effective environment. This information not only serves as a regulatory device, but also a bit of instruction and recommendation in making sure all of Our users understand the services offered to them.
As a general rule, NextStep, its content and its features have been created to provide You with a helpful service and as such, we ask that You respect The Application and all of its users.
By making use of The Site and the NextStep application, You fully agree and consent to this agreement and all regulations and information contained herein. This agreement is subject to change and Your continued use provides consent to this.
Glossary of Terms
These terms will be used throughout the extent of this document. Some of the terms will be used interchangeably in the manner described below.
NextStep – hereafter referred to as any or all of the following; “NextStep,” “The Application,” “The Site,” “The Program,” makes reference to all portions of the NextStep application, its website and all online or offline content related to it.
The User – hereafter referred to as any or all of the following; “You,” “The User,” “Student User,” “Alumni User,” “The Stu-dent,” makes reference to the individual making use of NextStep
Next Development, LLC. – hereafter referred to as any or all of the following; “The Provider,” “Next Development,” “We,” “Us,” makes reference to the business entity that provides the NextStep service to The User.
Business Member – hereafter referred to as any or all of the following; “Business Member,” “Employer,” “Business Community,” makes reference the set of users that comprise employers who make available jobs and internships to Students and have access to Student provided information for employee scouting purposes.
Consent by Participation
Your ability to use NextStep is provided by the contract in place between Your school and Next Development. The contract makes available The Program to all student and faculty members of the campus community. However, Your participation is not required. Any and all portions of NextStep can be left blank, empty, or unused. By making use of anything offered to you by NextStep, You consent to this user agreement. We built NextStep around use-based inclusionary principals, so that in the case You decide You do not want to make use of NextStep or include certain information, You simply have to do just that, not make use of it.
This Site and the NextStep Application are a Medium
The NextStep application and The Site that facilitates its use are a medium through which The User has the ability to exchange information, search for jobs, and be scouted by Members of the Business Community as a potential job candidate. As such, We only guarantee The Application itself and make no claims, warranties, or guarantees about Your use and any outcomes resultant of Your use of The Application.
Information Accuracy and Reliability
The Application provides You with a set of tools and features that allow You to input, store, distribute, and assess various forms of data and information. All data and information and its respective accuracy remains the sole responsibility of The User. Next Development, LLC. will not be responsible for data errors and inaccuracies. We recommend that You periodically check infor-mation that has been entered to ensure its validity. Error correction must be the responsibility of The User because, for Your privacy, We do not have access to data contained within Your account.
Entering Your Grade Information
By using NextStep, You have the ability to manually input courses You have taken and the respective grades and credit hours You received. This feature was developed for Your own personal planning and assessment of Your running GPA as well as a means by which You can share Your performance with potential Employers. Employers do not have the ability to break down Your grades in an individual manner, but they can see Your current overall GPA and Your GPA from courses that fall under Your major. Entering grade information is not required of You and as such, should You not feel comfortable doing so, You have the full right to neglect to do so.
If You do provide grade information through NextStep, please remember that as You will be the one entering these grades into Your profile, it is Your responsibility to report this information honestly and accurately. At any point in time, You can correct mistakes to grades You have entered, regardless of when they were added to Your transcript on NextStep.
Next Development can’t view, make corrections to, alter, or distribute Your grade information.
Information Sharing
Over the course of Your time in school, Your NextStep profile can be a very valuable tool in helping You find jobs and intern-ships. From day one until after graduation, the information in Your profile can help Employers understand more about You as a potential employee. Though much of the information stored through Your account is kept private and secure, some of it will be shared with members of the Business Community. To see what information is available to them, click the “Employer View of Profile” button on Your dashboard. Any other information or documents stored through Your account are private and only ac-cessible with Your user name and password. All of our Business Members are registered users with NextStep and go through a verification process prior to being allowed access to this information, so rest assured that Your information is in safe hands. As a general rule, please refer to our privacy policy for concerns about Our general information protection policies.
Interaction Between Parties Involved
Interaction between Student/Alumni Users and Business Members is the responsibility of both sets of users involved, not Next Development. Next Development, LLC. maintains no responsibility for and makes no claims about the outcome, safety, success, and quality of the results of interviews and/or potential internship or job attainment facilitated through NextStep. Much of this interaction will take place outside of The Application and as such is out of the control of Next Development, LLC.
Liability of Next Development
You agree to hold harmless Next Development from any claims or damages resultant of Your use of NextStep. You agree never to hold Next Development liable for any matter pertaining to You use of NextStep that is not a result of gross negligence on our part.
